Fixed Islamic
Calendar Dates – Issues
1.
Sighting the
Hilal is a Fard Kifaayah (Obligation).
* ISNA Fiqh Council:
“Sighting
the Hilal (ru’yah) is not an act of ‘ibadah in itself.”
2. Allah (SWT)
(2:189) required the Muslims to fix Islamic dates by the Hilal (“Sighted”)
crescent. The Prophet (SAW) emphatically
ordered: La Tasuumu…wa la Tuftiru Hatta tarawul-Hilala, fa in ghumma alaikum
… Don’t fast … and don’t (celebrate Eid) unless and until you see a Hilal.
If it is hazy, complete the count to 30 days. (Bukhari)
* ISNA’s calendar (1427-1432) has
fixed Ramadan and Eidain dates by moon’s birth before 12:00 Noon (GMT).
ISNA’s “Sightable” moon will NEVER be actually SEEN in the USA.

ISNA Fiqh Council
Decides to Ignore Qur’an and Sunnah
ISNA Fiqh Council
in its June 10, 2006 meeting has decided that:
- Ramadan in N. America begins on September 23, 2006
- Eid al-Fitr
date is Oct 23, 2006
ISNA Fiqh Council unanimously agreed to
fix these dates by the invisible New Moon. ISNA FC’s excuse for totally ignoring
the “Hilal” of the Qur’an, the Sunnah and the consensus of the Ummah for the
last 1400 years is their new rule:
(1)
The New Moon must be born before the
sunset in Mecca;
(2) The new crescent must be sightable somewhere in the world on the first day of the lunar month.
(Imad-ad- Dean
Ahmad, 1990: page 15).
Obviously, ISNA
astronomical expert does not know that an Islamic month begins from the
sunset AFTER a Hilal is SEEN, and NOT by “expect to sight somewhere 12+
hours later on the first day of the lunar month.” ISNA’s old rule (48
contiguous US states), at least started the month AFTER a Hilal was seen in some
remote town. Now ISNA has totally discarded the Hilal.
The moon’s visibility data given below show that a Hilal is
impossible to see anywhere in the world in the evening of September 22, or
October 22, 2006
