Lunar Visibility Alert:

Rabi I 1434 Hilal will be visible in N. America in the evening of Sat. Jan. 12, 2013 making Jan. 24 the date of Maulid al-Nabi. The earliest visibility will start from somewhere in Arabian Sea, east of Saudi Arabia/Yemen. From Australia to India and central Asia the moon will be seen next evening on Jan.13. 2013

Surprise Surprise:

Saudi Aramco lunar dates from this year appear to be by ACTUAL Visibility in Saudi Arabia. For January 2013 Saudi Aramco calendar shows Jan. 13 as the first of Rabi I and Jan. 24 as the date of Maulid al-Nabi. We earnestly hope and pray that Saudi Umm al-Qura calendar will also be adjusted to the "Sighted in Makkah" rule, in place of the present: "Moonset after the Sunset' on the Conjunction date. This will bring UQ calendar closer to what Allah SWT has asked the Muslim to base their calendar (2:189) and how the Prophet (PBUH) practiced in his life and the Muslim Ummah for the last 1400+ years.
