News Item

Ramadan moon WILL NOT BE SEEN anywhere in the world in the evening of July 19. CCD buffers will try to claim from anywhere in southern America (Brazil, Argentina, Chile), but as we have said earlier it is a computer-generated delusion that cannot be seen.

Hilal of Ramadan will be easily seen from Australia to Santiago, Panama, Miami, Fl, Houston TX, San Diego, and Los Angeles, but not in New York, Chicago or Denver, CO.

In Saudi Arabia, 11h 42m old moon is setting 6 minutes after the sunset on July 19, and CANNOT be seen even by a telescope. It is only 1.4 degrees above the horizon at sunset.

Eid al-Fitr moon in the evening of August 17 or 18, 2012 is more problematic. It may not be seen, for example, in New York, Chicago or Toronto even on August 18 (Sat.)

By the sighted moon Eid al-Fitr in most of North America should be on August 20 (Monday). A Sunday Eid means the Muslims miss the last day of Ramadan.
